Holy moly - what has happened to our thread dead quiet here~~

Robyn - what did your uncle say?

It is only March and I am soooo ready for another holiday!! Cant wait for the EAster Weekend - what are your plans for Easter? DH is working on Good Friday and on the Saturday we have his moms 60th bday party. Sunday morning we will go to church and I want to do an Easter Egg hunt for Em - maybe go and have lunch at Meerendal. Monday, we just relax.

We are going to SEdgefield at the end of April and then to DBN in May, so not going away for Easter.

Em has now been moved to her new single size bed and she is loving it. I wish we had done it sooner because she is sleeping so much better. In the toddler size bed, she kept rolling against the sides which made a huge noise and it kept waking her. Past 2 nights, she has only woken once and it was close to 5, so at least we are getting a few hours solid sleep. I just hope it lasts. She is really very chuffed with her bed and keeps telling us how pretty it is. Very cute! Her room is tiny at the moment though, so there is hardly any free space left now, but it's only for a few months and then she will have a HUGE room and the single bed will be lost in it

Kaylee baby is in hospital again with some phlegm on her chest. Went to see her yesterday and she is looking great, but sounding terrible So keep her and Joybaby in your thoughts and prayers.

TGIF!!!!
plus my main boss (I have 3) is doing the Absa Cape Epic and will be away for 3 weeks!!!!
My uncle invited my whole family to Madikwe private game reserve next month for a week
DH does not want to ask his mom to babysit D for the week (since she looks after her during the day)
and my parents are going with, so they can't babysit.
My uncle is coming to us for supper tonight, so we'll tell him then that D will have to come with us
and see what he says - will be her first plane trip to Jhb, then 4 hours in a car
But as my dad said - he has to realise that w are a family and when he invites us, he invites D as well!!

We took D's dummy away at 3 months and haven't looked back since!
She sleeps with a doodoo blankie (the Baby Sense Taglet Blankie) or if that
isn't available, she'll just take the corner of her blanket
She doesn't actually put the blankie in her mouth, she takes it in her hand and
puts her finger in her mouth (too cute)

That is sooo cute Kerry, I was thinking of getting Em a Build-A-Bear but rather want to wait until she is a bit older and can "make" it herself. Might consider it as 1 of her xmas gifts this year.

Flowergirl... it may just be that she is teething and the dummy is helping with that a bit... maybe give in to her need for more time with it for a day or two to see if it abates before trying anything earth-shattering? I know when K is teething she seems to battle with the thought of giving me the dummy.

I also found that i started a habbit that if she does something other than sit and cuddle with her combo then i get her to give it to me... so if she wont give the dummy up i sort of give her either some food (partial to banana at the moment) or give her a toy and she hands me the combo which i promptly hide. (out of sight out of mind)

Janine... we did the same with K and it has worked thus far... any blanket with satin ribbon edging works... she prefers the usual pink teddy dudu from baby city... but we have a white one from clicks and two blankets with satin edging that she is happy to substitute (provided she cant see the favourite)

she has bonded as well with a specific build-a-bear teddy we got her... she loooves to play with it! Sadly the build-a-bear branches seem to be disappearing out from under us... so when we were in CT we made a point to pop into the one at the waterfront and but her an outfit or two. the doll gets nappied, dressed, fed and everything.. and of all her toys this one she always puts back in her bed when she is finished playing with it. too cute!

I want to knit it a lovely winter Jersey... but i need a pattern and havent found one yet so it looks like i may have to make it myself.

anyways i better get back to work... terrible work ethic today!!

Willem also loves walking in our shoes, but he only does one foot at a time.
Problem is, now we have to hunt all over the house to find both shoes...

Flowergirl - Willem left his dummy as soon as he started teething, so can't help there.
He still drinks out of a bottle though, not sure how or when I will stop that...

He does drink out of his sippy cup and straws etc. Problem is, as soon as he's had enough, he likes to 'drip' whatever is left on the floor/table/himself/me - so the bottle for now is to minimize mess, more than anything else

He gets a bottle of milk to sleep with, with his teddy and a blanket.
I've made a point to rotate his different soft toys and blankets when he goes to sleep - so now its more that he wants something to hold, not a specific blanket or toy. Hope this still works when he is older - my SIL still struggles with her DD (3). Her great-granny made her a blanket, polar fleece on the one side, and silk on the other - she loves rubbing the sides.
She is so attached to that blanket, she sits in front of the washing machine and waits for it.... I made her a new one for her birthday - they assured me its the 'feel' not the 'look', so I made it a different colour - didn't work.

Thanks Kerry - Em also used to willingly give up her dummy when we she woke up, but not anymore. She also has a "hasie Poppie" that goes along with the dummy and just like with Kaelyn's - the 2 are insperable!!
